Expert Tips That I Recommend

  • If this is your first time making it, I recommend cutting the French fries into thicker slices, as thinly cut slices will be challenging to twirl around while frying.
  • I like my Mashed Potato Fries crunchy, and to achieve that, you should add the fries to the oil only when it is piping hot.
  • I also avoid overcrowding the pan while frying. Too many fries together will be challenging to cook, and the cooking temperature will alter, resulting in soggy fries.
  • I have shaped my Mashed Potato Fries into regular fries, but you can also shape them into wedges, patties, or balls.
  • Although I make my fries from regular mashed potatoes, I do not make the consistency runny. Super-runny mashed potatoes will take longer to set, and the results can be soggy.
  • If you don’t mind the heat, add some jalapeno mixture, paprika, and chili sauce to the potato mixer.
  • I always use fresh cheese when making this recipe. Pre-shredded cheese has a persistent taste, which can ruin the flavor of your Mashed Potato Fries.
  • Although high heat is recommended while making this, I always lower the heat when necessary, or else you will have burnt fries on the outside and undercooked fries on the inside.
