In Korean, Bonchon means “my hometown.” Since 2002, this restaurant has been the home to fried chicken lovers. This is the only place that is known for not just fried but also double-fried chicken.
Bonchon prefers sticking to its tradition much more than the profit because it has yet to try changing its norms to get more customers.
For example, Bonchon only slightly preferred vegetarian food. In all these years, it has seen many ups and downs but never molded its values just for some extra bucks. Just like that, over all these years, it has never compromised on the quality of its food.

Popular Items On Bonchon Chicken’s Menu
Wherever you hear the name Bonchon, Korean Fried Chicken will follow. It has such an immaculate texture that it will not let you resist its allure for too long.
For pairing, I would definitely go for the spicy, but you get to choose the dipping sauce among Soy Garlic, Spicy, Korean BBQ, or Half & Half.
The savory flavors are elevated to the next level when the chicken is dunked in the sauces. Talking about the texture, every bite of Korean Fried Chicken is hypocritically crunchy, stiff from the outside, covering the chewy chicken skin inside.
Try the Popcorn Shrimp from Bonchon when you visit there. Because nothing can beat the aroma of perfectly fried sesame oil you get from a fresh out-of-kitchen Popcorn Shrimp.
In online-delivered Popcorn Shrimp, you get the fried texture and the creamy-soft inside, giving a mix of salty and savory taste.
But physically, when you visit Bonchon, you get those warm flavors in every piece of popcorn and their enchanting crisp.
Earlier, I used to expect a solid crunch from my taco shells, but that changed when I heard about Korean Tacos from Bonchon. They are served in a warm and soft tortilla, which goes well with its creamy and tangy fillings.
The fillings include fresh lettuce and coleslaw around crispy fried chicken. Served topped with Korean sauce, this taco is addictive. The Korean sauce is mainly responsible for the spicy taste, and it is undoubtedly the star of this dish when slathered on the piece of chicken.
Buldak in Korean is a fire chicken with cheese, but there’s nothing like a Bonchon Buldak in any other cuisine. The spicy aroma and oily texture of this chicken are caused by the sauce, which will automatically draw you towards it.
The experience of having this Buldak is like doing an F1 race through fiery tracks.
Hot in the beginning and satisfying in the end. But the thing that impresses me more than that is Bouchon’s thoughtfulness. The Buldak is served with white rice, so even people with less spice tolerance can experience this delight.
When you order House-Fried Rice from Bonchon, make sure to tell them to add a good amount of bacon to it. Call them! Text them.
Do anything, but I’m telling you do not miss the real and authentic taste of Bonchon’s House-Fried Rice just because the restaurant staff was a little stingy. You will salivate uncontrollably with each spoonful of rice you eat.
The perfect amount of salt is sweet and so savory that it will tickle your palate, automatically making you drool.
The crisp you taste in the rice might make you think it is overcooked, but that’s only a little true. They are not overcooked but become crispy because they are intentionally cooked in high-heat, wok-style. Plus, beware of the kimchi in rice; don’t let your less spice-tolerant friend eat too much!
Bonchon doesn’t tell you this, but a box of Tteok-bokki is a box of lava. The box contains rice (especially) simmered in Bonchon’s spicy sauce, which will either get you addicted or destroy you.
The sauce is so spicy that they had to add sweet fish cakes, scallions, and onions just to bring the spice down to a human-tolerant level.
If you are a godly level spice lover, the Tteobokki promises you a full day’s worth of energy. On any day, just one Tteok-bokki box will give you the power to deal with anything; the smoky steam might make you feel hot.
Bao Buns look so white, soft, and peaceful that you’ll immediately pick one up just to feel the texture. Upon the first bite (which will make you fall in love), you will bite out the crispy pork belly made with soy garlic sauce, introducing the tangy taste to you.
But that ride of loving emotions will turn into a heaty race of romance when the spicy mayo meets your palate. Instead of running to any drink or soda, take another bite of that mildly sweet bun, which will return you to peace.
Bonchon is pretty popular for its spicy Korean menu items, and if you don’t like spicy food, this Japchae might be one of the best things you can try there.
I am not saying that it’s not spicy, but carrots, spinach, mushrooms, onion, and beef make these noodles so flavorful.
The addition of these things doesn’t make the dish feel so spicy. So if your spice tolerance is low, Japchae can be your go-to item at Bonchon (if it’s cooked in sesame oil, we can add it as well).
While eating Bibimbap, no bite goes with only rice climbing up your spoon. After all, Bibimbap translates to “Mixing Rice.” The rice is mixed with quinoa, egg, assorted vegetables, and sesame seeds, keeping true to its name.
Rice in Bibimbap is softer compared to House Fried Rice from Bonchon. Simmered in Bonchon’s special Bibimbap sauce, they will create a hot mess in your mouth. But crunchy vegetables with egg and quinoa come to your rescue immediately. This combination makes your Bibimbap experience unique and flavorful.
Simple white rice topped with brown and crispy breaded chicken cutlet shaped like thick fingers. What I wonder about this dish is how I am supposed to eat plain white rice with no gravy. But plain rice is essential when you take the first bite of the chicken cutlet.
The chicken cutlets are topped with spicy-as-hell Katsu sauce and spicy mayo. Ruthless Bonchon! The crunchy bite of the chicken cutlet feels warm at first but then gets constantly warmer when the sauces enter. You will then realize why plain white rice is important in this dish.
There’s only a little about Fries I can tell you that’s why I’ve reviewed French Fries & Zucchini Fries together. French Fries at Bonchon look like thick potato fries, and they taste the same. They are brownish, dense, and crunchy in texture, and you will hear the crunch right when you bite them.
On the other hand, Zucchini fries are thinner and yellowish. They are crispier than French Fries. But the salt seasoning that Bonchon uses amplifies the taste to its peak.
It makes both fries unique and extremely delicious. I suggest you get the sweet sauce with Zucchini fries, but the spicy dip tastes yummy with French Fries.
